You can have up to 5 devices synced to your iTunes. First you need to make sure that you have all that music on your computer. If that music is on your device but not your computer syncing the device to the computer will delete it unfortunately. There is however software tools out there to help you get that music off of there without it forcing it to delete but might take you awhile to find a free one. Just remember in the future to have all your music on your computer first then sync them to your devices using the same Apple ID.

If your iPad music are purchased from iTunes store, you can use iTunes ‘transfer purchase’ feature to copy them back to iTunes. And then re-sync them to your iPod Nano. Or You may try this iPod/iPad transfer, it can help you copy the music from your iPad back to your macbook pro, and then you can re-sync the music to your iPod nano, the program works pretty well for me. http://www.mac-dvd.com/ipod-to-mac-transfer.html Hope it helps. i recommend Aiseesoft iPod to Computer Transfer which could transfer music, movies, TV shows, podcast, iTunes U, ringtone, ePub, PDF, audio books, camera roll, picture, voice memos, camera shot, etc. to computer, and you don’t need to worry about losing anything.
