Looking for a solution to allow use of my large sdcard as secondary storage for ipad for storing media to be streamed/accessed from ipad 2 over wifi or bluetooth
If you want to use the card itself with the iPad you will need the camera connection kit (or something similar) that provides a socket for the SD card. If you want to transfer files use the DropBox app available for both Android and iPad (and your computers) to drag and drop files between devices.
