Can you download the same app on iphone and ipad?

On February 12, 2013, in Q&A, by Bloodeagle34

I have an app called icircuit on my iphone and i wanted to download it onto my ipad. But I was wondering do you have to pay for the ipad and iphone version separately? or once you purchase one you can download onto any platform. Thx

    No, you don’t need to.

iCircuit is an "Universal app", just download it with your iPad (by using the same iTune ID). You will not be asked to pay for the apps you already bought even if it’s in different iOS devices. ( Read this article, http://www.listofapp.com/qa-how-to-get-refund-for-iphone-apps-291 )

If an app has an exclusive version for iPad (such as "iCircuit for iPad"), it is treated as another new app, then you have to pay for it. But you can always download the iPhone version for your iPad, because iPad can run all iPhone apps except that an app is not optimized for iPad’s larger screen if it’s not an universal app.

I hope you are not confused. :)
