Blood pressure and heart attack symptoms are closely related since a rise in blood pressure levels is considered a direct deterrent to the cardiovascular health of an individual. The relationship between blood pressure and heart attack symptom can be better understood if you have a basic understanding of how the heart functions. Please note that the heart is essentially a muscular organ. The muscles here are called cardiac muscles and they are constantly in action that keeps the heart pumping and these muscles need a steady supply of oxygenated blood. The heart is supplied with oxygen-rich blood by a group of blood vessels, called the coronary bloods vessels. The coronary vessels are responsible for bringing oxygenated blood to the heart, i.e. among the outer cells of the heart’s outer layers, from where oxygen is absorbed by the cardiac cells and transferred to the inner cardiac tissues. This basic method is at the core of the hart performing normally. The smallest of changes here in the form of delayed or impaired supply of oxygenated blood or any problem in the rate at which oxygen is supplied to the cardiac muscles can lead to a heart problem, most likely a heart attack. Most heart attacks take place when the supply of oxygen to the cardiac muscles is interrupted for an extended period.

The nature of cardiac muscles can be best understood with the example of lifting weights. When anyone lifts weights, like most gym-goers do, the muscles are strained into working beyond their natural capacity. This is the basic science behind how muscles that are regularly trained and supplied with more-than-average nutrition tend to get bigger. The cardiac muscles follow a similar pattern wherein they tend to exert themselves beyond their capacity when there is a shortage of oxygenated blood. This is a natural reaction of the cardiac muscles whenever there is any problem in the oxygen delivery mechanism, i.e. the muscles are strained to ensure that he heart’s pumping mechanism is not compromised.

However, muscles too need to relax to ensure that they have sufficient time to recuperate. If the above example is continued, gym-goers are advised to take sufficient rest to ensure that their muscles recover from the strain induced during the workout. However, cardiac muscles need to work continuously since the heart needs to beat continuously and their strain is never reduced. As a result of the excessive pressure on the heart’s muscles, the valves too can get affected. These unwanted changes result in the individual feeling chest pain or shortness of breath. These are the earliest indicators of an impending heart attack. This can result into permanent damage to the heart’s muscles-when a group of cardiac muscles are affected in this manner, a heart attack surfaces.

Another Relation Between Blood Pressure & Heart Attack Symptoms

Most common causes that result in a deficit in the supply of oxygenated blood to the heart include blood clots or atherosclerosis that are known causes of narrowing the spacing within the coronary arteries. Such patients are also likely to suffer from Coronary Artery Disease, i.e. the widespread presence of plaque or fatty tissue along the inner walls of coronary arteries. People having chronically high blood pressure are also more prone to suffering from Coronary Artery Disease since high blood pressure damages the arterial walls, making the affected individual more susceptible to develop injured or traumatized arteries and such arteries have a greater chance of being hardened by atherosclerosis. Such damaged arteries are not capable of delivering the required amount of oxygen to the heart.
